A very interesting explanation from Jacob Nielsen about what user experience can do to help with the coronavirus crisis.
Elderly are the biggest risk group that easily get infected by the corona virus. They have to be isolated to minimize the risk. They might not be able to meet their relatives (children and grandchildren, for example). That would be very hard for them. We may say that with the advancement of technology nowadays, they may communicate with their relatives using video call systems. But… a lot of elderly users who maybe didn’t get used to a particular video-call system. Not all of the available video call systems are designed for the elderly. So, for that reason, we really need to design better for the elderly. The UI, for example, should be simplified so that the elderly users can use the video-call system easily.
